PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Knuckles (TV Mini Series)

Based on the Sonic the Hedgehog video games and starring Idris Elba as Knuckles, this Paramount+ series is a buddy comedy that fills the gap between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

During a pivotal scene in the final episode, the series uses my very popular cover version of Sirius, widely known as the Chicago Bulls theme song, originally by the Alan Parsons Project.

DOCTOR WHO: The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles

Celebrated by both critics and fans as one of the all-time best ranges of Big Finish Production‘s vast catalogue, this full-cast audio drama starred Jacob Dudman as the Eleventh Doctor and Safiyya Ingar as his companion Valarie Lockwood, expertly produced by Alfie Shaw with wonderful direction by Helen Goldwyn.

I took over as the music composer for the series from Broken Hearts onwards and went on to score the final two box sets of the range, Everywhere and Anywhere & Victory of the Doctor (8 episodes total).

UNIT: Brave New World

From the worlds of BBC’s legendary Doctor Who TV series, this long-awaited spinoff stars Angela Bruce as fan-favourite Brigadier Bambera, with Alex Jordan (Savarin) and Yemisi Oyinloye (Rix) completing the main cast! A full-cast audio drama set in the 90’s that manages to combine Doctor Who with stories inspired by James Bond and the X Files, this brand new range by Big Finish Productions was produced by Emily Cook and directed by Scott Handcock.

I composed the title theme and scored all six episodes in the style of 90’s action blockbuster films. To my delight, the theme and soundtracks were highly praised by both critics and fans as some of the best music in a Big Finish production!

 

Astronaut

Directed by Ammar Sonderberg and starring Oliver Neitzel, this short tells the story of a lone astronaut stranded on a strange planet – and the effects this has on his mind!

I scored the film with an emotional mix of synths, orchestra and ethereal vocals. It is currently doing its festival run and was recently shown at the LA Shorts International Film Festival. The movie was also nominated for a CAMGAROO award!

Once the movie is publicly available, I plan to release the soundtrack.

About Borna Matosic

I’m Borna Matosic, a composer, producer and guitarist based in Cologne, Germany, and it all started with a tiny yellow toy guitar made out of plastic that I picked up from my school’s dustbin with a single remaining string attached to it. I took it home, fooled around with it and discovered that it sounded more like a sitar than a guitar. So of course the first thing I did was to record a cover version of Panjabi MC’s Mundian To Bach Ke! I assure you it was hilarious!

Even though that first recording with the toy guitar was nothing more than a joke, I had discovered my interest for guitars and making music. I borrowed an acoustic guitar and tried to play rock and metal songs on it in true Tenacious D fashion, before finally saving enough money to buy a decent electric guitar and amp.

My plan was to learn and cover every single song from Iron Maiden’s catalog, but as soon as I powered up that amp for the first time, inspiration took over and I started composing my own music instead. The rest is history, as they say!

Today I’m equal parts a guitarist and songwriter as well as a media composer, writing music in various styles for films and games.
